The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2005-born goaltender Ty Angus for the 2023-24 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Angus spent this past season split between the Bellingham Blazers of the United States Premier Hockey League’s Premier division and the PJHL’s White Rock Whalers. In six games with the Blazers, Angus was 1-4-0 with a 4.04 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
“I am very excited to play in Port Moody for the Panthers because they have a great team with amazing fans and I can’t wait to get the season started,” exclaimed Angus.
He started the 2022-23 season in White Rock and posted a 5-4-0 record to go along with a 3.64 goals-against average, and an .879 save percentage in 11 games. Among his highlights were a 37-save performance in a 5-3 win over Richmond on Sept. 17 and a 40-save game in a 3-2 loss to North Van on Nov. 7.
“In my second year of junior hockey, I want to take more of a leadership role and lead by example both on the ice and off the ice,” expressed Angus, who’s an alumnus of the Semiahmoo Minor Hockey Association.
Angus describes himself as a goalie who battles for every puck. “I am a quick and agile goalie who competes hard and will do whatever it takes to stop the puck,” he said.
Angus joins forward Wesley Suszezwiez and defender Matthew Kim as three incoming players to sign with the Panthers for the 2023-24 PJHL season.
